Inking and Coloring

Once the animation for the peice is completed, I take the red cleaned up line version of the chicken and trace carefully over the details in a new layer. This layer is the actual lines that will be seen so I use the color black for the ink layer.

The layers created in the flash program are made with vector graphics. The vectors that make up the outline can be easily filled with color to create the colored version of the chicken. In traditional animation, the artist would paint using a brush on the back side of the inked layer.
