Creating the Background

When I created this animation, I really wanted to get the ice to look like real ice so I put a lot of detail into the background.

I began with the line drawing of the background that was created using flash.

To give the impression that there was a crowd behind the boards, I painted a bunch of blurry circles of different colors in the background. The boards and glass were painted over top of this layer. The glass was made slightly tranparent to complete the illusion.

I really wanted to make good ice so I downloaded a picture off of the internet which I could use to make ice like reflections.

By adding the reflections at a slight opacity, I was able to complete the effect.
