Animation

Creating the animation for hockey chicken was the first stage in creating the movie. To do this I created the rough animation in a light blue color. This color helps me to get the basic lines down and is easy to trace over in another color.

To create the animation, I use a program called flash that is made for creating animated web pages for the internet. For each frame of animation, I create a subtle change in the pose of the chicken. when these frames are played over time, they give the illusion of movement to the chicken.

once the rough animation is completed and I am happy with the movement of the character, I trace over a more detailed version of each frame that will be used as a guide in the "inking" phase. For this more detailed version I use a different color (red) to make it easier for me to tell which layer is which.
